El 9 de septiembre se inauguró una nueva exposición temporal  llamada L’eco Della Cenere de Aron Demetz, en el Museo de Arte e Historia de Guanajuato (León, Guanajuato, México). Como parte de la jornada celebratoria por el décimo aniversario del Forum Cultural Guanajuato y en colaboración con la galería Terreno Baldío Arte. 

Aron Demetz es un escultor italiano, nacido en 1972, en Vipiteno, Tirol del Sur, Italia. Estudió en el Istituto d’Arte en Selva di Val Gardena, Italia y más tarde en la Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg, Alemania. Actualmente vive en Selva di Val Gardena y es profesor de escultura en la Accademia di Belle Arti.

Synopsis:

This novel is very realistic, indeed Robert Bloch was inspired by the real life story of Ed Gein, a psychotic murderer who led a dual life. This story also captivated the british movie theatre director and producer, Alfred Hitchcock, who turned it into a clasic of the psychologic thriller cinema.

Norman Bates loves his mother. She has been dead for the past twenty years, or so people think. Norman knows better though. He has lived with his mother ever since he left the hospital up on the hill above the Bates motel. One night, a beautiful woman checks into his motel and Norman can’t help but spy on her, while she undresses. But his mother is there, she is there to protect Norman from his filthy thoughts. She is there to protect him with her sharpest knife.

Review / Personal Opinion:

I watched the movie last weekend; it isn’t totally loyal to the book, but it isn’t that bad either. The scene of the attack in the shower and the soundtrack it has, are quite famous. But, sincerely, what finally drove me to read the book was the TV Show Bates Motel, which I’m currently watching and really like.

Sinopsis:

Esta novela es muy realista, efectivamente Robert Bloch se inspiró en la historia de la vida real de Ed Gein, un asesino psicótico que llevaba una vida doble. Esta historia también cautivó al director de cine y productor británico, Alfred Hitchcock, quien la convirtió en un clásico del cine de suspenso y thriller psicológico. Y por supuesto tengo que mencionar que Robert Bloch fue discípulo de H.P. Lovecraft. 

Norman Bates ama a su madre. Ella ha estado muerta durante los últimos 20 años… o al menos eso es lo que la gente piensa. No obstante, Norman sabe más que ellos. Él ha vivido con su madre desde que dejó el hospital que se encuentra colina arriba del Bates Motel. Una noche, una hermosa mujer llega a hospedarse a su motel y Norman no puede evitar espiar, mientras se desviste. Pero su madre está ahí, está ahí para proteger a Norman de sus sucios pensamientos. Ella está ahí para protegerlo, con su más afilado cuchillo.

Reseña / Opinión personal:

A pesar de que esta película sea un clásico del cine de terror y suspenso, no la he visto (sí, sí, ya sé, la misma historia que las películas de Hellraiser; también planeo verla). La escena del ataque en la regadera y la pista de audio que tiene son muy famosas. Pero, sinceramente, lo que me impulsó finalmente a leer el libro fue la serie de Bates Motel, la cual me gusta mucho.

Synopsis

Review / Personal opinion:

I like horror movies and somehow I always knew about Hellraiser movies and how creepy and sadistic they are. Although I have never watched them  (but I will), the plot attracts so much my attention. Then I realize that there was a book that ‘spawned’ the movies. The book is brief (taking into account that I’m used to reading books of 500 to 1000 pages; I finished it in one day), dramatic and quite active, since the beginning, Clive hooked me.

Sinopsis:

El insaciable apetito de Frank Cotton por satisfacer sus obscuros deseos, lo conduce a resolver el intrigante rompecabezas que es la caja de Lemarchand. Esto le dirige a tener una muerte que solo una mente enferma podría inventar. Pero la no muy estable mentalmente esposa de su hermano, Julia, descubre la manera de traer de vuelta a Frank. El precio es alto y terriblemente sangriento, pero esto no será impedimento para cumplir con su tarea.

Reseña / Opinión Personal:

Me gustan las películas de terror y de cierto modo siempre supe de la existencia de una serie de películas llamada «Hellraiser» y de lo sádicas que son. Aunque nunca las he visto (cosa que sí planeo hacer), la trama  me llama mucho la atención, después me enteré que había un libro del cual fueron ‘engendradas’. El libro es breve (tomando en cuenta que estoy acostumbrada a leer libros de 500 a 1000 páginas; lo terminé en un día), dramático y muy activo, desde el principio Clive me enganchó.
